Now, is THIS a
great looking couple, or what!? They almost look like could be
on a poster advertising the "All-American family."
If you've taken the
time to really study the interviews we have with other Alpha Dogs
you'll notice a common thread running through them. It seems
like the folks who are making it in this business are NOT the
"go-go-go, rah-rah-rah" hustler types.
They're all very much family oriented, down to earth folks whose
desire to succeed with Big Dogs is not fueled by dreams of a new
Ferrari in the driveway or making a million dollars. Quite the
contrary! They more or less want a COMFORTABLE lifestyle for
their loved ones.
And Dave is no
exception to this. In hearing what he has to say in this
interview you'll see that his sincerity and good heart genuinely
pervades his advertising. It's an attitude and lifestyle that
virtually GUARANTEES success.....
Stan:
"Okay, Dave, let's get started. Tell us about yourself
and how you became an Internet marketer."
Dave:
"Well, Stan, I'm married with three grown children from a
previous marriage. My step-daughter lives with us, my wife's other
son is grown and on his own. We merged a large quantity of pets when
we got married and, although some have departed from old age, we
still have five cats and a retired greyhound racer from the Idaho
tracks. My wife has a full-time J.O.B. while I stay at home and
'play' on the Internet. Her fondest desire is for me to become
successful enough so that she can fire her boss. I'm trying
really hard, not for me, but for her."
"I'm 50 years
old and most of my business background has been in systems and
inventory control. I had worked the last 14
years for Boeing and was laid off when the airlines started going
under after the 9/11 disaster. Fortunately, I was already trying to
make it on the Internet part-time when I lost my job, so I at least
had a head start before unemployment."
Stan:
"What was your experience in Internet marketing prior to Big
Dogs, and how did you come to 'run with the pack?'"
Dave:
"I started marketing actively a year ago last June when I
created my own web site. I poured money into every program that I
thought would help me, just like the ads say. I made a total of $80
gross on a chain-letter program and consider myself extremely lucky
that the FTC never busted me. Other than that, it was money going
out, nothing coming in."
"I discovered
the ebook by accident - I was trying a home-page rotation program
and my sponsor's web page came up. Something about the message
convinced me to part with my $19.95, second-guessing myself all the
way. What I got really changed my focus and, miracle of miracles,
the program actually WORKS!! Each month gets progressively
better, and last month my sales doubled the previous month's
total!"
"Other than
plain perseverance, though, I don't do anything really
special except consistently follow the Big Dogs' formula."
Stan:
"What about your ads, Dave. All of our fellow Big Dogs
are always interested in seeing ads that WORK. Do you do
anything special?"
Dave:
"My ads are nothing new or innovative. I pay close attention
to the Big Dogs that are 'spot-lighted' each month and borrow an idea
here, a phrase there, pretty much following the formulas of the
spotlighted successes. My problem is, and continues to be, my
subject lines - some work, some don't, and they need to change
pretty frequently. I compare myself to the blind squirrel - even I'm
going to find an acorn every now and then, whether I can see or not.
My vision must be improving, though, because my sales numbers are
improving. This ad is pretty typical for my group mail
messages....."

Lately I've been using cliches for the subject line and then
repeating them and/or expanding them for my title line,
something along the lines of this one.)

that the gurus wanted to sell me. How could I be so stupid? I had
every tool that they could sell to me - and still had no
market."

succeed on the Internet. But it seems that only a few have figured

about advertising techniques other than the basic C.H.I.P.
programs?"

"Besides the C.H.I.P. programs, I use one other source for
email addresses. I'm dabbling in a couple of other areas, but I'm
still falling short of finding the formula that will bust everything
loose for me. Bulk email is still the most effective method that
I've ever used, and I've tried them all, believe me. I will say this
- anyone not using AdMinder or some tracking program is insane!
Unless and until you are making sales in the hundreds every month,
you need to see what works and what is costing you."
