Results for the "Dog Days of August" Contest!

Right Down to the Wire!

To bring our new people up to speed, our "Dog Days of August Contest" was specifically designed with the "newbie" in mind. A shiny, new $500 bill to the Big Dog with the most "Secrets of the Big Dogs" ebook sales for the month, $250 for second place, $125 for third place, $75 for fourth place, and $50 for fifth place. Ah, but to give our new folks a chance against the likes of our consistent, month-after-month, "big-gun" producers, we decided to introduce a "handicap" to level the playing field a little. We did this by SUBTRACTING your July sales from your August sales. For example, if you had 100 ebook sales in July, and 110 in August, your QUALIFYING sales would be 10. Likewise, if you just came on board, had NO sales in July and 11 in August, you would have 11 QUALIFYING sales and you would actually end up beating the guy who had 110 sales in August!

Well lemme tell ya, somethin’…

It’s been QUITE a ride, with results for the contest coming down to the very LAST DAY OF THE MONTH!!!

Newcomer Alan Yap started off the month like gangbusters, with a whopping 53 qualifying sales in just the first ten days. I guess the Yap-ster figured he had it in the bag, because he did SQUAT for the next two weeks, and as the third week drew to a close, his total qualifying sales stood at 63.

Meanwhile, another newcomer Ben "Microclick" Chapi soared well ahead, with 89 net sales.

With just ONE day left in the contest, with his 107 qualifying sales, it looked like Mr Chapi had the five hundred bucks WRAPPED!  (Ah, but ya never know, DO ya!?…..)

IN THE LAST 24 HOURS OF THE CONTEST, ALAN YAP SCORED AN ASTOUNDING 52 EBOOK SALES! Talk about a come-from-behind win at the final bell!!!

Not only does that total give him the first place prize in the contest, but it gives him the second place record for total number of ebooks sold in one day! (The current record is still held, by the way, by Tom "The Admiral" Bell, with an even 60 sales in a 24 hour period!)

  • Thus the $500 first prize goes to Alan Yap with a total of 135 qualifying ebook sales for the month of August! Well done, amigo!!!
  • Second place and $250 goes to Ben Chapi. What CAN I say, Ben!? I thought ya had it, too…right up until the time I counted the results on Saturday morning.
  • The $125 third place award goes to Rene Knops with his 33 net sales. Rene’s job is especially impressive because, as one of our "old guard," Rene had to dig himself out of the hole of having 44 sales in July. In other words, to have 33 NET sales, he had to have 77 TOTAL sales! Well done!
  • Fourth place was earned by Pete Maritz, who will receive $75 for his 17 net sales.
  • Fifth place? Well we had a TIE for fifth place honors. Both Mark Jackson and Lorrin Lee netted 16 qualifying sales for August! So…what we’re gonna do is give BOTH of ‘em fifty bucks!

Finally, honorable mention in the contest goes to Ken McVay, Bob Truesdale, Rupinder Azrot, Ray Manari, Jack Mason, Mike Wilson, Angela Davies, Fermin Suero, and Alfred van der Vlies. If the month woulda been just a day or two longer, fourth and fifth place might have looked just a LITTLE different!

Congratulations to all of ya!  Now if you six winners will just email the ol’ Stan-meister your PayPal email address, we’d like to get your awards off the books by the end of the week!

And while we’re on the subject of production, let’s also take a look at the top ten Big Dog affiliates in TOTAL ebook sales for August…

With his TOTAL sales of 137 ebooks, Alan Yap was number one. Admiral Bell took a solid second place with 121 sales. Ben Chapi was a firm third place finisher with his 107 sales. Brian "The Sheriff" Garvin slammed fourth place with 83 total sales. Rene Knops’ 77 total sales put him in fifth place overall. Following closely behind, Earl Mason’s 61 sales put him in sixth place. Connie Allen’s 33 sales put her in seventh place, with "Hucleberry" Finn in eighth place with 29 total sales. In ninth place was "Mobey" Dick Coulson, with 25 sales, and finally, in tenth place with 24 sales was Angela Davies.

Great big kudos to ALL of you and to the rest of the Big Dogs organization whose combined efforts produced nearly TWO THOUSAND "Secrets of the Big Dogs" ebook sales in what is usually the slowest sales month of the entire year!

Well done!
