If anything, my initial failures at online marketing are understated! Having been in various offline businesses since 1971 (yeah, I’m an old guy!), I had ZERO online experience until two years ago. And my first several months in the world of Internet marketing were, to say the least, an utter disaster – yes, I did spend (waste) thousands of dollars and hundreds of hours of time fruitlessly.
Think you’re naïve about the Internet? Frustrated because you’re not getting anywhere with your online marketing? DOUBLE that, and then DOUBLE it again – that was ME two years ago! Picture a quivering mass of frustrated, anxiety-ridden humanity huddled in a corner – that was ME!
But I did NOT give up! And slowly, gradually, I came to find what does and does not work on the web. Success did come – but it wasn’t overnight, and it certainly did not come easily, or cheaply! I came to find out that I wasn’t alone, and that many, if not most Internet marketers were going through the same horrid experiences as I had. I also came to find out that one of the MAJOR reasons so few people were not successful with Internet marketing was because WE WERE BEING LIED TO!
Thus was born the initial concept for the "Secrets of the Big Dogs" – a compendium of the real TRUTH about marketing online.
There’s an old saying that "nothing can stop the march of an idea whose time has come." Well, I knew that "Secrets of the Big Dogs" was a valuable concept, and I knew that it would work – I had sort of "beta-tested" a preliminary version of it with a number of my associates for a few months before releasing it to the general public – but I had NO idea that it would take off so FAST!
The official "launch date" of "Secrets of the Big Dogs" was March 24. I felt that it would be a while before things actually "got going" and I projected that the first month would result in around 100 sales of the ebook.
Man-oh-man, was I wrong!
As of midnight on the 23rd of April, exactly one month after our official launch, our Big Dogs team had generated 503 sales of the ebook! FIVE HUNDRED PERCENT MORE THAN I HAD PROJECTED!
To say I was pleasantly surprised is the understatement of the year!
As you know, when you generate a sale of the ebook you receive a commission of $8.72. Thus I am happy to say that, after our first month, ClickBank paid out over FOUR THOUSAND DOLLARS in affiliate commissions to various members of our Big Dogs team!
But those initial commissions from the sale of the ebook are merely just the tip of the iceberg, aren’t they!? The REAL income potential – the ongoing, RESIDUAL income potential comes from the CHIP programs, now, doesn’t it!?
And there again, I was way off base in my projections…
But before I get into that, I think I should define a term a lot of you new folks may not be familiar with. That term is "Alpha Dogs."
In a dog pack, certain of the dogs – those that are stronger, more aggressive, more SUCCESSFUL – become the leaders of the pack, so to speak. These dogs are referred to by biologists as the Alpha Dogs. In the context of our team, I refer to anyone who has taken the step of signing up for all, or most, of the CHIP programs as an "Alpha Dog."
Now I projected a "conversion rate" of maybe 8%, or at MOST 10%. What that means is that I projected that 8% to 10% of the purchasers of the initial ebook would go on to become Alpha Dogs.
Once again – ANOTHER shock!
OUR CONVERSION RATE AT THE END OF THE FIRST SIX WEEKS IS OVER SIXTEEN PERCENT!!! Right now we have over ONE HUNDRED SIXTY Alpha Dogs in the organization! And to think that I projected that after six weeks we would have just 12 to 15 Alpha Dogs! What pleases me the most is knowing that beginning this month, we are going to have a LOT of our team getting up to FIFTEEN paychecks a month, from the various CHIP programs!

Am I a happy guy? You BETCHA! But I’m also filled with a sense of, well, HUMILITY. The way I look at it, all I did was to share my stupid mistakes with other folks to try to prevent them from wasting all the time and money that I did.
