"A BIG dog is just a LITTLE dog who won’t stop barking
until he gets the bone!"

Ben Chapi Tells Us
How He Did It!

I had the opportunity to speak with our second place finisher in our Dog Days of August contest on Labor Day. I’m happy to say that Ben very graciously consented to share some of his marketing techniques with the rest of the Big Dogs organization.

And even I was surprised at some of his revelations!

First of all I think it’s instructive to point out how CAUTIOUS Ben is. Ben actually purchased his copy of "Secrets of the Big Dogs" a few months ago, but decided to "sit" on it. Oh, he LOVED the concept of the thirteen income streams and the 20,000 leads per day, BUT…

…HE DECIDED TO WAIT AND SEE IF THE BIG DOGS ORGANIZATION WAS IN IT FOR THE LONG HAUL, AND NOT JUST A FLASH IN THE PAN.

Well, by the end of July he was convinced that Big dogs was NOT just another here-today-gone-tomorrow dotcom, and he decided to start actively marketing the program. The rest is history, as they say, and Ben ended the month of august with 107 ebook sales!

How did he do it?

Well, naturally, he made good, CONSISTENT daily use of the leads generated by the CHIP program itself. However, as any good marketer knows, you can never advertise TOO much. Thus he made use of additional promotional venues, one of which in particular I thought was VERY cool!

The beginning of Ben’s strategy starts with…of all things…surfing the net. When he comes across an affiliate site promoting a business opportunity, he looks for that particular distributor’s contact information (i.e. email address and name). Then he sends them a personal email promoting the Big Dogs opportunity.

Here, for example, is an email sent to an affiliate for the program "Six Figure Income:"

"Hello John,"

"I visited your SFI web site this morning and I've
just been looking at some of the great services that
SFI is offering. I'm convinced, based on what I've
read, that SFI has become one of the most successful
MLM programs on the Internet."

"John, I am writing to you because I believe that your
SFI business can benefit from our unique marketing
program, and from the exposure we can get you."

"We have designed a powerful marketing program that
I believe will help you build your SFI business."

"Please visit my website below to request more information and email me to let me know what you think. Come to:"

All the best,

THOUGHT FOR TODAY:
========================
"The only thing a man can take beyond this lifetime is
his ethics" - Unknown Author
-------------------------------------------------

"Your name has not been added to any email list.
This is a one time email so there is no need to ask to be
removed. I'm sending you this email based on the
information I gathered from your web site. If you have
received this email in error, please forgive my intrusion
and delete it. Thanks for your time."

Now let me point out just how BRILLIANTLY conceived Ben’s concept is…

First of all, you’ll notice how "conversational" Ben’s letter is. It’s not one of those "in-your-face" get-rich-quick sounding letters. It’s more like a relaxed conversation between two old friends. Above all it is POLITE!  Ben does not attempt to put down the SFI program; rather he states what a great program it is, and…"oh, by the way, I have an idea that may help you."

If you go to the link that Ben provides, you’ll notice that he has set up what’s called a "gateway page." What is a gateway page? It’s simply a personal website that an affiliate puts together himself, to lead a prospect to the company’s MAIN sales site. You’ll notice that the site is short, sweet, and to the point, and again asks the prospect for their name and email address. Ben then sends the prospect the URL for the main Big Dogs sales site.

You will also notice that, unlike the majority of email solicitations you receive, Ben has his full name, email address, and telephone number in his letter. Not ONLY does that go a long way toward building credibility, but if a prospect feels they are being spammed, it is very simple for them to contact Ben.

Finally, note Ben’s "no-spam disclaimer" at the bottom:

"Your name has not been added to any email list.
This is a one time email so there is no need to ask to be
removed. I'm sending you this email based on the
information I gathered from your web site. If you have
received this email in error, please forgive my intrusion
and delete it. Thanks for your time."

All, in all, I would say that Ben’s letter is a well-designed, strategically layed-out work of art!

Now, one of the BIG questions I had for Ben, after he outlined his strategy to me was it’s effectiveness. After all, it takes a LOT of time to gather this information and send out an INDIVIDUAL email. Well, according to Ben, he gets four sales for every 100 emails he sends out in this manner! Time consuming? Yes. Worthwhile? UNQUESTIONABLY!!!

Although the example used above was a letter specifically targeted toward an SFI affiliate, the letter can obviously be reworked to be more general in tone. For example:

"Hello John,"

"I visited your web site this morning and I've
just been looking at some of the great services that you’re
offering."

"John, I am writing to you because I believe that your
business can benefit from our unique marketing
program, and from the exposure we can get you."

…and so on. I think you get the picture. With a little effort you can design an "all-in-one" letter that is general enough to be sent to just about anyone.

As far as Ben’s gateway page, that’s "icing on the cupcake," so to speak. Don’t feel that you HAVE to be a professional web-designer, and that you HAVE to have a gateway page to utilize this system. You can use the system quite well by having the prospect go directly to the sales site.

In closing, I would like to offer my personal thank you for Ben’s unselfish sharing of his unique promotional technique.
