Are YOU Writing Your Own Newsletter?

Many times in past issues of the Big Dogs Bulletin I have stressed the importance of maintaining regular contact with your downline by means of your own newsletter. As I’ve stated on numerous occasions, developing your own in-house mailing list is crucial to your long-term marketing efforts. I HAVE NEVER MET NOR HEARD OF A SUCCESSFUL INTERNET MARKETER WHO DID NOT EMPLOY THIS FUNDAMENTAL TECHNIQUE! Although it sounds simplistic...

"...the promotion of your current program, product, or service could almost be considered secondary to developing your mailing list and publishing your own bulletin."

Below I’m re-printing a recent bulletin that one of our Big Dogs, Joe Leech, emailed to his downline people. Take a few moments to read his bulletin, and then study the comments I’ve made about it at the end…..

Hello !*FIRST_NAME*!,

Greetings from Pittsburgh, Pa and your Big Dogs sponsor. I don't know about you, but I'm happy to see a new month.  I'd like to start out and again congratulate Debbie Baxter up in Buffalo, New York for being in the Top Ten in the entire company last week. Debbie was brand new last month, and she shows it can be done. Her name was in the company wide newsletter from Stan, but I'm sure many of you did not recognize her.

Next, I'd like to ask each of you all to take a moment to remember with me, and share your condolences with my sponsor, Frank Sanders, on the loss of his brother in law in the WTC bombings. Frank and I ususally exchange email a few times each week, but I had not heard from him for a while.

Today, I did, and he told me he had been in New York consoling his sister on the loss of her husband. It has been said that just about everyone of us will either know someone who was lost, or will know someone who did lose one.

Now on to business. I'm not one for putting false spins on things. For myself, Sep was a very bad month. I did not know if it was someting I was doing in terms of a new headline, or general conditions. I spoke with others, including Frank who normally has a humongous business and it was his slowest month in many years. This is not just the economy, because when the economy slows, businesses of our type generally pick up.. people start to think about secondary incomes, etc. But collectively I think we were all numb, and many of us still have fears.. and in those times, people don't really seem to to to the computer as much. It's not to say business was dead.. but just well below expectations, possibly except for people like Debbie, who.... should you be asking or thinking... did it just with a cold market. She did not have a group of friends or business associates to swing over. She did it per the book. Daily posts, and some innovative headlines.

That headline or subject line is a KEY. Stan has given us the text, and once we get people to his page, 90% of the job is done. YOUR job, and that's why we call it YOUR business, is to write a headline, then a short ad, that gets people over there. If you need some help, I have some ideas.. some tested, some sitting waiting to be tested.

You need to set your belief and Focus, and if you will permit me, I'd like to recommend a paperback book available about everywhere.. it is, in fact, titled, "The Power of Focus" by Jack Canfield. You can find it in all good bookstores, on or off line.

What's ahead? Alot of good stuff! The market won't stay down forever, but while it is.. people ARE concerned about their future, their retirement, etc. They are more open now to secondary income opportunities than ever before. People are busy, so businesses which require meetings such as the traditional Amway are not as attractive.. people won't go out, but they will go to their computer. And people are scared, and tending to avoid crowds. Online shopping this Christmas season is forecast to be bigger than ever. If you don't have a current online consumer business you are working, please talk with me or let me know. I get checks every month from Spree and Six Figure Income. Both are free to sign up and have good products, and I'll be happy to include you in my group for personal help and training.

And that leads me to our Big Dogs program. Most of the people in my group had some kind of business when they started, and the interest was to use the 20,000+ leads daily for that existing program. That's great, if everyone of us markets "Big Dogs" as the main income program (which I do, but you don't have to). I love it when you market the program.. the in depth commissions are great, but you didn't sign up to make MY checks bigger. You joined to make YOUR check(s) bigger. But let's say you want to use the leads you get multiple times.. and you know under the CHIPS program you can't. You get a one shot deal.. period.

How do you get to use the same names over and over? Very simply, a gateway page which captures the name, usually in form of a permission for a "freebie". Some of you know how to do this and do your own, but if you'll permit me, I'd like to put a plug in for the best one for the masses.. Opt In Lightn'.. This site has so much going for it, the main item being the ease of use. People don't have to take the time in to put in their name and email address. It captures that automatically. Once you do that, you relay them to the main site you want to send business to; but then follow up.. often with automatic emails.. either on that business or on secondary businesses. You can promote your "widgets" with the first direct link, then come back with your own personal Opt In list and promote the second product. You have the permission to do so on your drive, so no spam problems. I use it, and I have to tell you, it has lived up to reputation.

So.. I think that covers most of things of interest going into this new Fall season. Nice little newsletter, is it not!?

Now let me strike a few cogent points…

1. The greeting: I purposely left the !*FIRST NAME*! in the greeting but ordinarily that would automatically be replaced by the first name of the person to whom the message is being sent. How? By use of our good ‘ol Aureate Group Mailer. The Group Mailer is the PERFECT tool for creating and maintaining a database of your "subscribers" – dare I say it is an INDISPENSABLE tool. Adding the first name of the recipient is just one of MANY bells & whistles available with this program.
2. What’s the next thing that Joe discusses? He congratulates Debbie Baxter – a member of his downline – on her sales performance. Nothing builds team spirit, folks, like giving someone a well-earned slap on the back.
3. Joe then discusses several techniques and tools that HE has used in his marketing efforts. Tools and techniques (some simple, some a little more complex) geared to assisting his downline people.
4. Notice how Joe ends his bulletin: Offering assistance to his people on a very personal level and supplying them with several methods to contact him.

There you have it, fellow Big Dogs – a textbook example of a key ingredient of what it takes to "make it" on the Internet.
