HEY!!!  What's Goin' On!?
My HopLink Doesn't Work!!!

In a recent article in the Big Dogs Bulletin.....

(http://bigdogsecrets.com/Article 1 07-19-02.htm)

.....we discussed the problem of “commission hijacking.”

In an effort to curb this unethical practice, ClickBank has recently taken steps to modify their programming.  I won’t bore you with the technical details but suffice it to say that once you use a hoplink to go to the “Secrets of the Big Dogs” sales page, a “cookie” is placed on your computer.  Then whenever you return to the sales page, you are taken to the purchase area belonging to the Big Dogs affiliate whose hoplink you first clicked on to get there, no matter WHICH hoplink you use to get there on succeeding visits.

This is a big improvement since it makes “commission hijacking” nearly impossible.

BUT!…..there is a small "flaw" in the new system that ClickBank didn’t foresee!  It is now impossible for us to verify that our own hoplinks are working properly by simply clicking on them ourselves!

Let’s use a brief example.....

Assume that the hoplink you FIRST used to arrive at the ebook sales page was…..

http://hop.clickbank.net/hop.cgi?johnsmith/bigdogs

Now, no matter how often you go BACK to the sales page, and no matter WHOSE hoplink you use to get there (including your own), the FIRST Big Dogs affiliate (John Smith) will get the commission.  Thus if a commission hijacker goes to the Big Dogs sales page using your hoplink, and decides he's going to make the purchase by inserting his ClickBank nickname into the standard hoplink format, YOU WILL STILL GET THE CREDIT!   This is good and fair and prevents “commission hijacking,” but it comes at a price.

Do you see what we’re talking about?

Yep!  You got it!  Let's say that you’ve purchased the ebook, upgraded to Alpha Dog, and the first thing we tell you to do is to verify that your hoplink is working properly.  But what happens when you use YOUR hoplink from YOUR computer now!?  YOU ARE TAKEN, NOT TO YOUR PURCHASE PAGE, BUT TO THE PURCHASE PAGE OF THE PRIOR AFFILIATE (YOUR SPONSOR)!

Now, there’s nothing to worry about – you won’t lose sales.  Why?  Because it is only from YOUR computer (because of the "cookie") that you can’t get to YOUR sales page.  When someone clicks on your hoplink from a DIFFERENT computer, they will be taken to YOUR sales page, just as they should be.

So ClickBank’s change is a good one, in that it stops unethical people from stealing your commissions, but the flaw is that we can no longer verify our hoplinks from OUR computers!

Or CAN we!?.....

Of course we can.  It just takes a wee bit more work.

You simply delete the "cookies" form your browser's file folder.  For example, in the most current version of Internet Explorer, go to the main tool bar near the top, and click on "Tools."  On the drop down menu that appears, click on "Internet Options."  In the "General" file folder (the one that opens on default), simply click on the "Delete Cookies" button, and then verify that you do, indeed, wish to "delete all cookies in the temporary Internet files folder."  Just one word of caution:  you do NOT want to turn OFF cookies.  (some programs require that cookies be turned on in your computer to work)  You merely want to delete the cookies that are in your temp files.

NOW when you copy and paste your ClickBank hoplink into your browser window and go to the Big Dogs sales site, you will find YOUR ClickBank nickname in the lower left corner of the standard ClickBank purchase page...just as you should.
